This product seems so simple yet provides a lot of entertainment and activity. It doesn't quite float, doesn't quite sink and can be slow-motion dribbled underwater. Adults and kids alike enjoy it but it was the biggest hit with my 17-year-old son and his friends. I find myself playing with it even when I'm alone in the pool and, because of its weight it works pretty well for in or out of water arm workouts. It's sturdy, well-made and will definitely remain a fixture in our pool.
Update: two months in and despite spending almost every day in the pool (and Florida sun), this product has held up beautifully. One of my son's friends told him it's perfect for him because it's virtually indestructible. It was a big hit with guests on Independence Day.
Update: Three years later and we are still very happy with this ball. It basically lives at the bottom of the pool and it has barely even faded. When my 20 year old son has his friends over, it is still one of the first things they use. Very surprised at the durability, both of the product and my family's enjoyment of it.
Great Customer Service and Great Product
I ordered this and it ending up not having the adapter to fill it in the box, and I had wanted it for a weekend BBQ. The company not only refunded me my money but also located a store buy me that sold the watermelon ball and actually called the store to make sure that it was in stock. I ended up picking it up from the store the morning of the bbq and we had a lot of fun with it. All our guests loved it and wish that they had one of their own. Great to see customer service like this.
Pretty cool to pass underwater back and forth
The review from a bunch of 10-12 year old boys in the pool was one of the most used pool toys. I even tried it out. Pretty cool to pass underwater back and forth. I would suggest a rule of NOT throwing it at people unknowingly. It is a ball full of water and can give a good hit to throw a kid off. (the kid is ok and alive to tell the tale) Good for this age group when usually a football tossed around was the main pool toy. This has taken it's place.

First, the delivery was prompt despite the order being placed right before the Holiday weekend. The package was intact and well protected in the shipping box. The product itself is amazing!! I played this at a friends house until 2 a.m. one night in a pool. I am 35 years old and it was the most fun I've had in a very long time. Not only was it great cardio and made me laugh until I couldn't breathe, it held up to 6 grown up people (SOBER) fighting like cats and dogs trying to rip it out of each others hands. The Watermelon Ball is an amazing toy for any pool and you will NOT be disappointed in this purchase. I ordered my own Watermelon Ball the next day as soon as I woke up.

Gotta say I was pretty skeptical of this, but needed something new to try for the kids in the pool. Glad I purchased it. It's made out of a very thick
material, seems very sturdy, the kids love it, we've made up several games with it (still haven't read the watermelon instructions), bounces great under water we play try to tag the other side of the wall with my young ones, dribbling between the legs, passing, we'll see who can get it to bounce the deepest, and a few other things. So far a lot of fun.

Over the past few years we've bought lots of beachballs and volleyball nets and water guns and diving toys but they get boring quick. There are lots of ways to play with the watermelon ball and it's been a great addition to our pool so far. The best part is that it never gets thrown out of the pool so someone isn't having to get out and chase it down a hill like with our beachballs. So many ways to play, it keeps the kids entertained every time we're in the pool.
Update: We've had the watermelon ball for 2 years now and it's still holding up great. Survived being left in the pool all winter as well.

You may find the cost a bit higher than you would want to spend on a pool toy. At least that was my initial thought. I’ve purchased 4 watermelon balls since. Not because they wear out, because multiples are so fun! I’ve had one issue, and the company rectified the situation quickly and beyond my expectations. One of my children is a teenager with Autism. He loves the sensory input from this pool toy. We have hours of fun together in the pool. This is my honest and glowing review. I’m not paid or anything of the sort to share my opinion. I’m sharing my thoughts because I’ve purchased too many pool toys to count. This one has lasted from one season to the next. It’s quality. Best pool toy EVER!
This is the BEST pool toy. My 11 year old son and his friends love it. So much so that friends have ordered one. Seems pricey at first, but when you see how much fun you can have with it, you realize it isn't just your standard pool toy. It doesn't sink, doesn't float. It suspends. You can throw it in the water, under water, bounce it in the pool, etc. It's heavy, so it's also a great workout while having fun! It always sparks conversations with curious onlookers when we bring it to a public pool or hotel pool. So worth the money. A great addition to any pool.

I was looking or toys for my son to have at the pool in our community - to either get other kids to play, or for us to have something fun when we jump in with him. I saw this and bought it based on the other great reviews. They were all true! This thing is so weird, and so much fun. First, it looks just like a watermelon so it is definitely attention grabbing. The kids were having water gun fights, so they would lob it at each other and when it hits the water it makes a giant splash like a water grenade. It floats just below the surface of the water so it's just weirdly available. And yes, you really can dribble it on the floor of the pool. It has some weight, so throwing it around for a couple of hours is a bit of a workout. It was the perfect toy for this godawful summer.
Buy more than one to keep the peace and have a blast!
This ball is an absolute blast! I have a ton of pool toys, but this is the one worth fighting over! Think I may have to buy another one because my daughter and I spend more time playing “keep away” than anything else. I’ve actually been sneaking into my pool without telling her so that I can play with it before she catches on and gets in! Not real mature for a 51 year old woman to try to hog a ball from a 13 year old, but there you have it. My husband, who hates water, got into our pool just to play with this ball. Then our 31 year old son, also hates pools (prefers lakes), stopped by and decided to take his sister swimming just to try it out. Nothing I can say about the high quality and durability that hasn’t already been said, so I’ll offer a little advice instead: buy a few of these balls for your pool. Otherwise, you’re going to spend a lot of time saying things like “Hey, I bought the damn thing, give it back!”
